The machine-checkable conditions of the Matterhorn Protocol (PDF/UA-1), measured against veraPDF, plus WCAG checks PDF/UA doesn't cover: text contrast, images of text, headings, lists, tables, links, language and reading order.
Check a document for accessibility
Check a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or Excel file, or a web page saved as HTML against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with no account. These are the same automated checks our scanning service runs on documents.
Your file never leaves your browser
The checks run on this device. The document is not uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, and closing the tab discards it.

PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files (including templates, macro-enabled files and slide shows) and web pages saved as HTML. Older Office, RTF, OpenDocument, WordPerfect, Pages and Numbers files are converted and checked when you sign in on a paid plan.
What gets checked
Word, PowerPoint and Excel
The rules of Microsoft's Accessibility Checker, and more: alternative text, headings, table headers, contrast against the theme, slide titles and reading order, sheet names, merged cells and document language. Documents, templates, macro-enabled files and slide shows are checked the same way.
.docx, .docm, .dotx, .dotm, .pptx, .pptm, .potx, .potm, .ppsx, .ppsm, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm
Web pages saved as HTML
The axe-core rules our page scanner runs, filed under the same WCAG criteria. The file is rendered in a sandboxed frame where its own scripts don't run; the signed-in Document Audit also runs them, with the scanner's own checks.
.html, .htm, .xhtml
Every WCAG 2.2 A and AA criterion
Each criterion is marked failed, needs review, no issues found, manual check or not applicable, so nothing reads as passed that wasn't checked. Level AAA findings are shown for information.
Converted when you sign in
These formats can't be read in the browser. Our service converts them on its servers before checking, so they need a signed-in account on a paid plan.
